Emusicinstruction, a new venture that provides live and interactive music instruction through the Internet, utilizes existing and available consumer video conferencing technology to bring collegiate level music instruction into schools and students' individual homes with live professional one-on-one instruction.
President and Co-Founder Matt McGraw is currently a Doctoral student at Arizona State University and has been teaching music for many years at virtually all skill levels and in many varied environments. In earlier years while teaching in music stores, students and their parents often complained about the distance they had to travel and time wasted by just the waiting process before and during each lesson. Later when teaching the online Jazz in America class offered by Arizona State University, students complained of the lack of personal interaction that was missing from their distance learning educational experience.
Additionally, in recent years, music education programs have been increasingly cut from school curriculums supposedly in order to allow more time for reading, math and science. However, research shows that music is one of the main factors in a student's success in learning! Dr. James Catterall of UCLA states that students who study music achieve higher test scores, regardless of socio economic background. Parents and students aware of this research are striving to KEEP music as an integral part of their education but are being forced to seek this instruction as an extra-curricular activity provided by sources outside of the school environment.
Emusicinstruction provides a solution to this dilemma by offering top quality music instruction in the comfort of students' homes or school. The company eliminates the negatives while offering top-notch instruction from musicians holding graduate degrees or the experiential equivalent in their fields. We offer an urban educational opportunity to communities that are not conveniently located near the city centers but above all, provide the personal interaction that is so sorely lacking in previous forms of distance learning in today's market.
