Q: What kind of webcam should I buy and where is a good place to get one?

There are several good quality webcams, but the Logitech Quickcam Communicate STX is about $50 and does a great job. We do not recommend purchasing a lesser quality webcam because the video and audio quality will suffer and we want the best possible learning environment for our students. This camera has a microphone built in and does a good job in low light situations. We have this unit and a slightly higher quality unit available here.

Q: If I already have software and a list of contacts do I have to switch software?

No. If you already have software that you are comfortable with, don’t worry just let us know what software you use and we will accommodate you. Here is a list of software that the instructors will already have on their computers: Skype, MSN Messenger, and Sight Speed.

Q: What do you mean by a video conferencing “name”?

While installing the software you would have been given a video conferencing “name.” This works like a phone number for us to be able to call you. Ex. matt.mcgraw
