Jeff's Myspace

Jeff Gutierrez began teaching private saxophone lessons in his hometown of San Jose, CA in 1998. Five years later, after enduring four long winters at Northwestern University in Chicago, he ended up with a degree in Jazz Studies and lots of playing experience with some of the top Chicago jazz musicians. His passion for music and teaching then took him to the jazz mecca of New York City where he freelanced and taught his way through the bustling metrolpolis for three years. While there, he was founder and president of EastWest Music, a music school on Long Island offering private lessons and jazz workshops to musians of all ages. Since '06 Jeff has been living in Phoenix continuing his career as a very busy freelance musician and teacher. He is currently working on a master's in Music Ed and Jazz Studies, teaching several classes, rehearsing big bands and directing the jazz combo program at ASU. In the summer of '07 he and his quartet travelled to Grenoble, France to perform at an international music festival. Jeff is also an avid hiker and backpacker and enjoys exploring the Southwest on the rare occasion he has a free weekend.
